5 things you are not doing right to your hair!

We usually love experimenting with our hair, then may it be in terms of color or literally chopping it off 8-9 inches short. And why not? Changing your hair can totally transform your look and, plus makes you feel confident and new. Now, I know experimenting is fun, but you can agree with me here – this experiment can make or break your hair game. You must have come across girls who experiment a lot with their hair by harsh coloring, bleaching and using various hair styling tools, but still have pretty good hair. Whereas, you having totally Virgin hair are not happy with it as it doesn’t look that good and appealing (Dry, Freeze and week). Now, you might think that the hair they have is God gifted or the situation can be totally reverse. Whatever it is, let me tell you – you can also have beautiful hair like them if you follow a proper routine and avoid some mistakes.

1. The Basic!

You already know the basic – shampoo and condition. But then, there is more to that. Firstly, do you just enter into the shower and wash your hair? If yes, this is what you need to stop doing. It is important to apply hair oil or hair mask before you wash your hair. This will help your hair get a little stronger and nourished then earlier. Besides, what kind of shampoo you use also can affect you hair. Make sure you pick the right one.

2. Conditioner

I have heard from many girls that they only condition their hair when they want to attend an event or have something special to do. And my only reaction to this is WHAT? Applying conditioner is equally important as shampooing your hair. Where the shampoo is what that only treats your scalp; the conditioner does a great job with the ends and mid ends.

3. Towel Dry

Yes! You might have heard this before. But again a quick reminder – do not use your normal shower towel to dry you hair, instead get an old cotton t-shirt or invest in some microfiber towel. This won’t make your hair freeze or lead to breakage. Even if you are already applying this tip try to only pat dry your hair, as wet hair is delicate and may tend to break.

4. Brushing your hair

You have heard this multiple times now – Don’t use a comb on wet hair. But you really can’t help it when your hair is a tangled mess. Instead go for a tangle- teezer, it will really help you get the knots out without any hair breakage. Besides, you also need to start detangling your hair from bottom and then move upwards.

5. Washing your hair too often

I known the oily scalp is a pretty annoying one, but washing your hair daily is not the solution. In fact the more you wash it the more oil your scalp will produce. Instead use a dry shampoo and try washing your hair ones or twice a week.

That’s it girls! A great hair day is not hard to get. You can avoid doing some things and use some good products and hair mask to achieve that fab looking hair. You can also use a good serum to keep your hair in place and make it look shiny.

Comfort zone

Firstly I’m very apologetic for being missing for ages now! But henceforth I promise to be regular.

I always look for comfort in my clothes like most of you. A casual pair of t-shirt, denim and flip-flop is my go-to outfit. Not much of a styling required right? Since winter is coming, mornings are going to be lazy and running late is going to be a routine. Now, during such lazy Monday mornings, I would hate dressing up! Yay! Wait before judging me – I owe an explanation for this: (a) it’s going to be super late and (b) I’m lazy. If you are a lazy person like me, you totally can feel me here – we are always ready to travel the world in PAJAMA’s.

I’m a fan of mom and loose fitted jeans these days, they are absolutely comfy, and you don’t have to struggle with fitting in, unlike the skinny ones. You can run around, sit comfortably and yes, even walk a hundred miles without being sleazy. These Levis jeans are really my go-to pair, as the washed look corporate with any outfit. I like to fold the bottom a bit, as they look a little messy but effort taken.

Maroon lately has become my favorite color or rather an obsession. If you follow me on my social media, you know my obsession for maroon or blood red nail paints. However, this infatuation of mine has moved to t-shirts and shirts. Now, I always wanted to own an over-sized t-shirt but never found a pleasing one. This rather was quite affordable and the perfect fit for me. I found it in the men’s section when I was picking an outfit for my brother.

I tried this t-shirt in two ways. Since I love tucking my t-shirts, I stuck with it not poking my comfort zone. Nevertheless, as a little contradicting person I am, I wanted to do the knot thing too. The t-shirt knot is quite popular these days and a much seen on Instagram, and so I managed my way doing it (It was a real struggle though tying the knot). Since winter is around the corner, layering is going to be a must. So I thought of adding on a white shirt over my outfit – to keep myself cozy.

Coming to footwear, you must have expected a pair of boots or sneakers, but since I was looking for comfort – I found my way to these flip-flops. I got mine from Westside. They are grey and white and complements any outfit. I also threw on a cap for a little styling.

Street style has always been my comfort zone as it does compliment my laziness and also looks a quite stylish. I would always like to upload content which you all can try and experiment with. Hope I justified your expectation with this comeback. You can always feel free to write me down your suggestions and also what you would like me to try.

Here comes the summer

Now summers are not really as fun as they look in pictures. Though you decide to dress like a Pinterest model or want that perfect Instagram look, summer manages to perfectly ruin it. Summers can only be fun at the beach when you have a cold beer in hand or a glass of lemonade.
I really thought, this summer I’m going to rock my look. But it's summer and summers in Bombay can literally melt you. And this is exactly what happened! I had to compromise with my outfit and my makeup. Also, summers mean tan and tan gives you uneven skin tone (obvious). I am sure everyone goes through those annoying tan lines especially having them over your hands and legs.
Summers can be fun if you are on a vacation but not when you have a long day at work. The heat might melt you. Summer heat can also dehydrate you. Especially if you are residing at Mumbai, traveling might really drain you out. Summer is just not about heat, sweat, and tiredness. But it’s also about your skin and hair.

Climate during summer holds a bit humidity which can make your hair dry or sometimes too sticky. This makes your scalp produce oilier and ends up looking greasier. Which can get pretty annoying when you want to look picture perfect. And to avoid this you might wash your hair daily. But washing your hair on daily bases makes it dry and freeze despites this washing your hair daily is also not good for your hair.
During summers your hair is not the only one which gets affected but your skin too suffers. Having an oily skin in summers is common. Oily skin might also sometimes result giving you pimples or acne. Which can really be a nightmare? You might think that I’m nagging about the summers…..But I’m not, I’m just introducing you to the reality.

But despite all this, we still can make our summers a little happening if we keep some things in mind. So let’s dive in:
1.    Drink plenty of water. This is an age old tip which you should not skip. At least try drinking 2-3 liters of water a day.
2.    Include fruits which contain water in your diet. Having watermelon, cucumber and citric fruits will not only make your skin glow but also will make you feel fresh. As this helps flush all your toxins out.
3.    Don’t forget your sunscreen. It’s an essential thing in summers. If you don’t want the sun to ruin your skin as well as want your skin to escape tan then sunscreen is the must.
4.    Try exfoliating your face as well as your body twice a week. This will help you to get rid of all skin buildup and sweet off. Also, your skin pores will be deep cleaned.
5.     Apply ice to your skin or try washing your face with cold water as this will keep your pores closes.
6.    Aloe-vera gel can smoothen your skin and hair. Apply aloe vera gel as a leave-in conditioner and you will definitely feel a difference, your hair ends will feel less dry. Whereas your skin will feel more calm and relaxed.
7.     Try wearing what comforts you. Avoid wearing too tight clothes as this can be uncomforting in summers. Wearing loose tees can be an option as they are in trend also you can opt for boyfriend jeans as they are much comfortable.
8.    If your make-up is melting try using a setting spray as it will help you set your makeup. Spraying some rose water with a little bit of aloe vera gel can also work well in setting your makeup.
9.    Sunglasses are must these summers. As they comfort your eyes and save them from direct sunlight. Also, they will make you look cool and get that slay look.

5 Hair mask you need to try this winter

Ahh, winter. We love how you bring us cozy knits and comfy boots. the dry skin and brittle hair... not so much. But what if we could have all winter's wonderfulness without the beauty woes? In the hair- parching dead of winter, there is in fact a way to bring hair back to life: the magical hair mask.
So lets dig in to bring back the hair shine in winter...

Egg & Curd mask (dry hair)

For this all you will need is an egg, some curd and honey.

Take a full egg and add 3-2 tbsp. of curd to it and blend it well in a blender or you can even mix it well.

Then add a tbsp. of honey to the mixture, mix well and apply from scalp to the tip of your by coving it with a shower cap. Wait for an hour and then shampoo your hair well.

(This mask gives your hair proteins and gives it a shine by making your hair look healthy)

Milk and Honey mask (strait hair)

This is a really simple and a quick hair mask. Here you will all need is 1/4 or 1/2 cup of milk (depending on your hair length) and 1 tbsp. of honey.

Mix honey and milk well and apply to your hair from root to tips with the help of a cotton ball. After applying to you scalp massage it well and wait for an hour.

Finally rinse your hair with a shampoo.

(This mask helps in cleansing your scalp and nourishing your hair. If you wish having strait and long hair apply the mask once a week)

Banana hair mask (damaged hair)

Take half or a full banana depending on your hair length and smash it in a bowl adding 1 tbsp. of honey and 2 tbsp. of curd to it, then blend it in a mixer well and not keeping any chucks of the banana.

Make sure it doesn't have any lumps as it can get stuck in your hair and would get hard to get rid of it while shampooing.

Then apply the mask on your hair and let it sit for an hour and later shampoo it.

(This mask helps in smoothing and nourishing your hair)

Aloevera hair mask (Frizzy hair)

This is the best worked hair mask for me.
All you need for this mask is 3 tbsp. of aloe vera gel and 2 tbsp. of rose water mix it well and apply from the root to tip of your hair by genteelly massaging it. leave it on for an hour or half and then shampoo it.
(This mask tames down the frizz and adds shine to your hair)

Oil Mask ( hair fall)

This is a very popular hair mask I'm sure you would be using this mask.
Mix 2 tbsp. of coconut oil, almond oil and olive oil and heat the mixture.
Then take a cotton ball and apply the oil mixture on your scalp and give a good massage to your hair this helps in blood circulation, then apply the remaining oil to the ends and mid ends of your hair.
Wait for 2-3hrs and then shampoo your hair.
(Applying oil and massaging it on to your scalp will help in blood circulation and stop hair fall)

Get that Diwali Glow....

So...Diwali is already here at your doorstep....and there is still a lot preparations left.
The lightings, diyas, sweets, rangoli, crackers almost all are done but.....
I guess, what about you??
No... I'm not talking about your Diwali outfits, I know you must have picked up the best one....
Then what am I taking about? of course your skin is it Diwali ready??
I know you must have missed the parlor appointment in the hustle of Diwali preparations but, no worries I'm here to give you that Diwali glow at home...

Let's start by cleansing the face....

For this take a cotton ball an dip it into the milk. Squeeze the excess milk out and dab the cotton ball on to your face until your face is covered with milk.

Then take 4-5tbsp of cheakpeas floor i.e. besan in a plate and add 2-3 drops of milk to it and let the paste be lumpy.

Grab some besan on to your fingers and gently start massaging it on your face and neck.

Message it for 3-4mins and then wash your face with cold water.

Now grab some rose petals and get ready for a rose scrub.

For a rose face scrub you'll need 2-3tbsp malai, 4-5 rose petals, 1tbsp sugar and some coconut oil.

Crush or break the rose petals into small pieces and add them into the malai then add 1tbsp sugar to it and give it a good mix by adding 2 drops of coconut oil.

Then gently scrub your face for 2-3mins and then rinse with cold water.

Finally let's end it with a face mask.

All you will need for this mask is multani mitti, sandalwood powder, rose water and that's it!!

Take 2tbsp of multani mitti and sandalwood as well and add 2-3tbsp of rose water depending on the consistency. Don't make it too watery.

Apply the mask and let it sit for 10-15mins and then rinse.

Lastly apply an ice cube to your face to tighten the open pores which will give your face that bright and glowing look.

When you here the word shaving the first thing that comes to your mind is it's a men's thing. But no girls "why should boys have all the fun".
If you ask me, for me waxing and threading is a nightmare and so will be for some girls. Before I got introduced to shaving hair removal was a scary thing to me but now I enjoy shaving..... Why?
Come on girls it's pain free, quick, easy and cheap.

So lets start......

The most important thing about shaving is to use a women's razor and not a men's one.

Gillette venus women's razor is the best one to use its handy, easy to use and gives closer and clean shave.

Secondly it's important to exfoliate before shaving as it gets rid of dead cells and also prevents ingrown hair.

It's also important to apply shaving cream or any conditioner or coconut oil to get closer shave and smooth skin.

After shaving do apply a moisturizer to keep your skin nourished.

Now let me burst some myths about shaving.......

I know you must have heard a lot of myths about shaving and so had I but after trying shaving for years let me tell you they are not true.

Myth number one shaving makes your skin dry and rough..... no not at all trust me shaving properly and moisturizing it well will not leave your skin dry instead after shaving your skin will feel baby soft.

Myth number two shaving makes your skin dark and brings in thicker hair growth....... absolutely false there is no skin darkening instead you will get rid of your dead skin and if you talk about thicker hair growth it totally depends upon your genetics girls for me after shaving my hair growth reduced.

And yes myth number three shaving everyday is bad.......... you can pretty much shave every day shaving depends on your hair growth you can shave every day, after every two days or once a week as your comfortable with.

A step towards Sexy Legs

Monsoon has arrived and the roads are muddy. There is water all over the roads......

No, no... I'm not talking about the monsoon problems or the potholes issues it's just that during monsoon your feet is the most which affected Yes!! I'm gonna talk about your feet today.

It's normal that the mud during monsoon gets sticked to your nails and gets in your cuticles and also there are more chances that your feet might get attacked with fungal infections, so it's necessary to get your feet pampered and pedicured.

But pedicure can be costly if you go to do it evey week so, why not do it at home??

Take your nail color off your nails first to get started.

Soak

First things first, start by soaking your feet in warm water by adding 1/2 lemon juice and 2 tbsp of salt. Sit back and soak your legs for 10-15 mins in the warm water you can read a magazine, a book or watch your favourite episode. Then dry your feet by gently patting it with a towel and lastly apply a cuticle softener at the roots of each nail.

Nails

Then trim your nails short. Shape your nails using a flier and then use a nail scruber or a old toothbrush to scrub your nails gently.

Cuticles

After cutting your nails drag your attention to the cuticles of your nail and clean them with cotton or tissue and then gently cut the cuticles or push them back with the blunt side of a cuticle pusher.

Hard skin

Then use a body scrub to scrub of your dead skin. Scrub your feet well for 2-3 mins to get rid of all the dead skin. Wash your feet and then again towel dry it.

Massage

Massage your feet by applying some oil, you can use any essential oil if you have or a drop of coconut oil will work same magic. Enjoy the massage and then wash your legs with just a drop of shampoo rub it well and then wash your feet.

Hydrate

Apply a foot cream or any moisturizer will do. If you have cracked heals apply a crack cream. Massage well to lock the moisturizer. Avoid applying crack cream to your nails, a moisturizer is fine to apply to the nails.

Polish

Lastly, this is the best part of the pedicure take your any favorite nail color and apply it after applying a base coat which will protect your nails from the Polish.

And TaDa!!!! Your done to flaunt your "Sexy legs" even in monsoon.

10 Coconut Oil Hacks you must try....

As Indians we all are used to having coconut oil in our house. Often we use coconut oil only for cooking or use it as hair oil. But actually it has much more uses then these two.....
Coconut oil is relatively cheap and can replace many costly products. Coconut oil these days is in a big trend and so I thought of sharing some coconut oil hacks with you.

Hair growth - Now we all know this that applying coconut oil increases hair growth. This grand moms secret definitely works. Simply heat the oil and apply to the scalp with cotton ball and then give your scalp a gentle massage.

Replacement for shaving creams - Now-a-days we all girls are used to shaving. Coconut oil works as a great replacement to these shaving creams simply apply coconut oil to the area you want to shave and run your razer through it. Coconut oil will make your skin soft and also avoid ingrown hairs.

Makeup remover - Many-a-times it happens we forget to carry our makeup remover while travelling or run out of one. Don't worry coconut oil is at your rescue. Take 2-3 drops of coconut oil on a cotton ball and use it to remove off your makeup.

Moisturizer - Coconut oil acts as the best moisturizer. If you have dry skin put a drop of coconut oil on it and massage gently. But don't use lot of coconut oil it will leave your skin looking oily.

Body scrub - Add 3-4 drops of coconut oil to some fine sugar with some lemon juice this acts as the best body scrub and lip scrub which helps in getting rid of dead skin and then moisturizing it.

Rash healer - If you have rashes or razer bumps apply some coconut oil to it and massage gently to heal the rash. You can also apply coconut oil when you have a insect or a mosquito bite to stop irritation.

Sunscreen - Coconut oil also acts as a sunscreen as it contains natural SPF in it. Just take 3-4 drops of coconut oil in to your palm rub well and apply to your arms and legs to protect your skin against sun.

Cuticle oil - If you suffer from dry, brittle and lifeless nails then coconut oil can help you out. Just apply coconut oil on your nails and let it stay overnight. It will make your nails healthy and strong.

Lip balm - Apply coconut oil to your lips while going to bed or even while getting ready it will moisturize your lips and make it look glossy and plumped.

Stretch marks cream - As girls we all have stretch marks on our arms, thighs and many places on our body so here is a solution for those apply coconut oil everyday to those areas to make the marks lighter.

I know!!I know!!I said 10 but some times extra is always welcome right.... so enjoy two more extra hacks.

Avoid Frizz - Frizzy hair ?? Don't worry coconut oil is at your rescue. Take 1-2 drops of coconut oil on your pam and rub well then just apply to the hair where it is frizzy don't apply too much your hair would get oily.

Longer eyelashes - Apply coconut oil to your eyelashes to get longer, thicker and fuller lashes everyday.

That Perfect Pout....

You don't just get that perfect pout by applying the perfect lipstick shade.

Taking care of your lips is as important as taking care of your self.

Applying a lip balm is not just enough. Regular application of lipsticks makes your lips dark. It's important to take correct care i.e to exfoliate your lips to prevent dryness, dullness and that ugly looking dark lips.

Exfoliating your lips....

a) Mint lip scrub

For this start by taking 4-5 tbsp of fine sugar. (if your sugar is too big grind it and make it a bit small but not powdery)

Then add 2 tbsp of coconut oil to it.

Then take 2 mint leaves and chop it fine and add it to the sugar with 1 tbsp of lemon juice.

Mix it well and use the scrub.

b) Cinnamon lip scrub

For this all you will need is fine sugar 3-4 tbsp, 1tbsp honey, 2tbsp coconut oil and 1/4 tbsp of cinnamon powder i.e dalchini.

Mix all this in a bowl and then apply.

(note adding too much of cinnamon powder may burn your lips a lot. This scrub will burn a bit on your lips but it works great)

c)Easy lemon sugar lip scrub.

This one is a very simple one all you will need is 2tbsp of sugar, 1/2 tbsp vaseline and 1/2tbsp of lemon juice.

Mix it well and apply.

How to use the lip Scrub....

First wash your lips and get rid of any lipstick or lip balm.
Then take the lip scrub on to your fingers and scrub on your lips gently for 4-5 mins.
Keep on adding the scrub as required.
Then take a old tooth brush and gently rub on your lips to exfoliate. Make sure you don't be too harsh otherwise you can hurt your lips.
Then wash your lips with cold water to get rid of the scrub.
Lastly apply a lip balm.
